Deborah Ann is a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA, with qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences and Addiction. She is a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician through the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) and a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp).  Deborah is also a Certified DBT Practitioner (C-DBT) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) through Evergreen Certifications.  Deborah works with adolescents and adults across a range of psychological and emotional concerns, with particular clinical interests in eating disorders, body image, anxiety, depression, addictions and sport performance.  Her professional experience and ongoing training support an individualised approach to assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention.

At the heart of Deborah's practice is a humanistic, person-centred approach. She believes that each person brings their own experiences, strengths, values and understanding of their life to therapy. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach,  Deborah works collaboratively with clients to understand what matters to them and to develop a therapeutic approach that reflects their individual needs and goals. Deborah places strong importance on creating a therapeutic environment that is respectful, compassionate and non-judgemental.  She believes that a trusting therapeutic relationship can provide an important foundation for exploring difficult experiences, developing greater self-awareness and considering new ways of responding to life's challenges.  Her practice integrates person-centred principles with evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), where clinically appropriate.  Deborah draws on these approaches flexibly rather than applying a single therapeutic model to every client.

Deborah works collaboratively with clients to develop treatment goals and therapeutic strategies that are meaningful and appropriate to their circumstances. She recognises that psychological wellbeing is influenced by a person's experiences, relationships, environment, values and broader life context. She is particularly interested in supporting people to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, strengthen psychological flexibility and build practical skills that can assist them in navigating challenges.  Deborah's therapeutic philosophy is grounded in the belief that people are not defined solely by their difficulties or past experiences.  She views clients as active participants in their own lives, with the capacity to reflect, make choices and develop new directions over time.

“We are the authors of our lives, capable of changing the direction of our story at any time.”
